Jeff Bent’s Montana Pioneering Spirit Proved To Be the Perfect Fit for eXp Realty
Jeff Bent is fiercely independent and teaches his agents to be the same. Perhaps Jeff’s upbringing from a family of longtime Montana homesteaders – early pioneers in establishing a living in the Wild West – led him to see the appeal of eXp Realty, too.
He decided the benefits of the eXp platform would help his Obsidian Realty Group of 20 agents to grow in ways not possible before, prompting him and his entire team to join eXp Realty in December 2022. Jeff says his Obsidian Realty Group will continue to operate out of a physical office in the Bozeman area where he runs homebuyer classes, webinar training and for referral partners who come in bi-monthly for lunch and learns.
“After looking at the platform and the resources available we realized that we could take everything that we had built as an independent brokerage and add all the benefits of eXp for the agents,” said Jeff. “Now, our agents have access to health care options, additional revenue streams, lead sources and we’re looking forward to the growth opportunities for 2023!”
Self Sufficiency Is a Characteristic Jeff Teaches
Prior to getting into real estate, Jeff was building spec homes and doing construction – a trade his father taught him. Jeff started his own construction company in 2002, but needed to find a plan B after the market crashed in 2008. He got his real estate license in 2010, thinking he could do both, “but did so much better with real estate” that he shut down his construction company.
Jeff founded the Obsidian Realty Group in October 2016 – named after the volcanic rock which is plentiful in the west. He started with four agents, growing his team to 20 by 2022. His strategy is to choose people with customer service backgrounds and he takes them under his wing for two years, teaching them every aspect of real estate, in which they are self-sufficient to start and close a deal.
