Sibling Power Duo: David and Sarah Newman Thrive Together at eXp in Charleston, SC

It’s not every day you hear about siblings excelling in the same industry, let alone the same brokerage – but for David and Sarah Newman, joining forces at eXp Realty has been a natural fit. Raised by entrepreneurial parents who owned restaurants, the brother-sister duo learned early on what it takes to provide excellent service and succeed in business.

“We grew up in restaurants, so customer service and hard work were part of our DNA from a young age,” Sarah said. “Our parents worked with real estate developers and brokers, so real estate always felt familiar to us.”

Now based in Charleston, South Carolina, David and Sarah are each carving their own paths at eXp – David in commercial real estate and Sarah in residential – while finding opportunities to collaborate and grow together.

David Newman: Building Communities Through Commercial Real Estate

With nearly two decades of experience, David Newman is a seasoned professional in the commercial real estate world. He got his start in 2005 with the Silver Companies in Virginia, working on high-profile projects like the Quantico Corporate Center, an 85-acre mixed-use office park, and the Fredericksburg Nationals minor league baseball stadium.

“I’ve always been drawn to the commercial side of real estate because it combines so many different disciplines – finance, law, engineering, marketing, and design,” David shared. “It’s rewarding to see how thoughtful developments can enhance communities.”

After a brief stint with eXp Commercial in 2022, David rejoined the company in December 2024 as an advisor, senior vice president. He decided to return after attending eXpcon in Miami with Sarah and was “blown away by the keynote speakers and the breakout sessions.”

“I felt a bit static in my career and knew I needed to get out of my comfort zone, take on some new leadership roles, and expand the platform and opportunities in my life.   The conference was an absolute turning point. Plus the tagline, ‘Where the pros go to grow’ resonated with me.”

In 2024, David completed 15 transactions, totaling approximately $8 million in aggregate market value, and he’s eager to expand his impact. 

“eXp is the perfect platform for collaboration. I’ve already had opportunities to work on projects with agents across the country,” he said.

Outside of real estate, David is an adventurer at heart. He’s traveled extensively, lived in Hawaii, and even completed yoga training in the Himalayan mountains of India. Now settled in Charleston, David is a proud #girldad to two daughters and looks forward to building his business while balancing family life.

Sarah Newman: A Rising Star in Residential Real Estate

Sarah Newman took a different path to real estate, starting her career in the restaurant industry and later transitioning into digital marketing. Over the years, she helped solopreneurs with email marketing, blogging, and course creation, even co-creating a successful food blog.

“I’ve always been entrepreneurial, so real estate felt like a natural next step,” Sarah said. She got her license in July 2022 and hasn’t looked back.

In just two years, Sarah has built an impressive career, closing $18.9 million in sales on 36 units in 2024. She also launched a team at eXp Realty, now comprising four agents and a transaction coordinator.

Sarah’s success has earned her accolades, including being named a Top 10 Female Real Estate Agent in South Carolina by Apple News in 2023, and she is on track to achieve ICON Agent status in 2025.

What sets Sarah apart is her client-first approach. 

“I love helping people with personal purchases that truly change their lives,” she explained. “It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of such a significant moment for my clients.”

When she’s not working, Sarah is a globe-trotter who has traveled to over 25 countries and lived in Ireland, the Netherlands, and Australia. 

A Shared Vision for Growth at eXp Realty

While David and Sarah work in different sectors of real estate – David in commercial and Sarah in residential – they see opportunities for collaboration at eXp.

“Sarah and I plan to grow both our commercial and residential downlines together,” David said. “There’s so much synergy in what we do. For example, my commercial clients often need to buy or sell homes, and her clients are frequently business owners who need commercial services.”

Sarah added, “eXp’s collaborative culture and global network make it easy for us to support each other and grow together. We’re excited about the future.”

Both siblings credit their upbringing for their strong work ethic and sense of community. “Our parents taught us the value of hard work and service, and we carry that into everything we do,” Sarah shared.

As David and Sarah continue to grow their careers at eXp, they are focused on building their teams, expanding their reach, and finding new ways to serve their clients. With David’s expertise in large-scale developments and Sarah’s dedication to life-changing residential transactions, the Newman siblings are a force to be reckoned with in Charleston’s real estate market.
