MMA Champion Turned Real Estate Leader: Georgia’s Tim Stout Brings His High-Performing Team to eXp Realty

Tim Stout, a name synonymous with grit, discipline, and perseverance, has made a game-changing move in the real estate industry. In early February, the former mixed martial arts (MMA) champion and self-defense expert officially joined eXp Realty, bringing with him the Tim Stout Group – a team of 16 agents who closed over $70 million in sales on 208 units in 2024. Based in Newnan, Georgia, just 40 miles southwest of Atlanta, Tim and his team specialize in residential sales and working with high-net-worth investors. (Read the press release here.)

From the Ring to Real Estate: A Fighter’s Journey

Tim’s story is one of relentless ambition and transformation. Born in Tennessee and raised in a 900-square-foot home alongside six siblings, he learned the value of hard work from an early age. His journey into combat sports began with a fascination for Bruce Lee, leading his parents to scrape together enough money for karate lessons. But it was boxing  – and later Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu  – that truly captured his passion.

Tim Stout says his DNA drives him to outwork everyone, becoming a mixed martial arts champion prior to real estate success.

Tim thrived in the fight world, becoming a decorated MMA champion while simultaneously working full-time as a detention officer. “I loved helping kids progress in life,” he recalls. However, after a surprising loss to a lesser fighter, he decided to hang up his gloves and pivot toward a new challenge – sales.

“I knew I was a hard worker, and I wanted to be rewarded for my effort. It’s in my DNA to outwork everyone, and I wanted to be in an industry where my results directly reflected my effort. Real estate was the perfect fit.”

Climbing the Real Estate Ranks

Tim dove into real estate headfirst, immersing himself in education, mentorship, and hands-on experience. His drive for self-improvement led him to constantly refine his skills, always asking, How can I educate myself? How can I provide better service to my clients, my staff, and my agents?

His career trajectory reflects his relentless pursuit of excellence:

  • RE/MAX (2012-2015) – His entry into real estate, where he learned the fundamentals of the business.
  • Keller Williams (2015-2019) – Achieved multiple Millionaire Real Estate Agent (MREA) awards and made an appearance on HGTV’s House Hunters.
  • Compass (2019-2021) – Continued expanding his expertise in luxury sales and high-net-worth investments.
  • True North real estate advisors (2021-2022) – Built the Tim Stout Group, a high-producing independent team that consistently delivered outstanding results.
  • My Brokerage (2022-2024) – Moved the Tim Stout Group to this brokerage.
  • eXp Realty (2025-present) – Joined the industry’s most dynamic brokerage to take his team to the next level.

The Move to eXp Realty

Though he wasn’t initially looking to switch brokerages, Tim was introduced to eXp Realty by his coach and mentor, eXp powerhouse Brandon Brittingham. 

“At first, I was closed off to the idea,” Tim admits. “But the more people I spoke to, the more it made sense.

“Brandon has a big investing business. The fastest way for me to grow is my proximity to Brandon. He has the business I want.”

Beyond his real estate success, Tim is deeply invested in his community. As a co-founder of Apex Predator Training, he has dedicated himself to self-defense education, helping people build confidence and resilience. He provides free self-defense training on Wednesdays to the area’s law enforcement. His leadership extends beyond business – he’s passionate about mentoring agents, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to provide top-tier service.
