L.A. eXp Realty Agent Piper Moretti a Pioneer in Securing Real Estate Using Cryptocurrency
Los Angeles eXp Realty agent Piper Moretti has a niche: buying and selling real estate using cryptocurrency. She didn’t plan on becoming a crypto expert, but when a buyer asked her to help him buy properties in 2017, she learned fast.
“He had a ton of bitcoin and his plan was to buy properties in Manhattan Beach,” said Piper. “I had no idea what I was doing, but we figured it out together. It was a lot of problem solving and putting the puzzle together. Then it just snowballed.”
Piper figures she has completed five transactions using cryptocurrency and now teaches a popular class in eXp University called “Buying and Selling Real Estate with Cryptocurrency.”

The Oklahoma native moved to the L.A. area in 1993, working in the entertainment business. But, the big downtime between productions left her searching to fill her time. A friend suggested real estate and it just took off.

When and why did you join eXp?
“I joined in December of 2020. My now sponsor, Suzy Truax, whom I had known for a couple of years through the blockchain/crypto space, told me that crypto was going to make a huge comeback in the next year and that eXp was the place I needed to be because of its tech-forward model and support I would receive. I’ll be the first to admit, I was very hesitant because it hadn’t caught on in my area yet, and on top of that I had had a couple of very bad years after being hacked, and that deep loss and victim mindset spilled over into my traditional real estate which did not bode well in my business.
“I had all but forgotten about crypto and real estate, but somehow Suzy convinced me it was time to dust off that experience and join an amazing brokerage that would support me in everything and offered amazing growth opportunities, not just with crypto. Not long after I joined, crypto absolutely exploded and I’ve never been busier with listings, buyers, and educating other agents as to how to take care of a new generation of clients. eXp welcomed me with open arms, and in just a few short months I was teaching what I knew in eXp University. And to my surprise, I got to be on stage TWICE at EXPCON and made an Excel Series Instructor of the Year!”

“Everyone is SO nice and collaborative! I live in LA where many agents are, well … sometimes not and where ‘every person for themselves’ is prominent.”
Have you had any experience or success around eXp’s global revenue share and commercial businesses?
“I’m dipping my toes into revenue share and it’s amazing! There is so much opportunity. I do commercial real estate as well and I hope to find time to attend the week-long course eXp Commercial offers.”
What kind of collaboration have you experienced at eXp?
“The education department is A+++. They’re always open to new ideas and bringing state-of-the-art learning to agents.”

“Think OUTSIDE the box that traditional real estate likes to stick us in. Tune out the noise. Follow your gut, it’s never wrong.”
