Marlise Alkhas, Senior Finance Project Director for eXp Realty, Named a 2022 HousingWire Insider

eXp Realty’s agent base is growing rapidly and has now more than 84,000 real estate agents in 21 countries. And because of the company’s rapid growth, eXp Realty’s financial system needed to scale as well. 

Leading this year-long financial transformation was Senior Finance Project Director Marlise Alkhas, an inspiring, determined and collaborative leader who excels at reducing complexity and streamlining data and processes. In recognition of her efforts, she was named to the HousingWire 2022 Insiders list, an award that celebrates people who are a critical part of their company’s success, but who may or may not be as well known throughout the larger industry. 

According to HousingWire, it selects awardees based on “their vital and dynamic contributions to their companies and the industry as a whole.”

Alkhas Oversaw Transition to a Global Financial System

Marlise joined eXp Realty as a Senior Finance Project Director in January 2021. Over the last year, she has led Project Edge, which encompasses migrating eXp Realty’s global operations from regional enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to a global ERP software. Project Edge will better support the needs and demands of eXp Realty’s customers, while enhancing internal controls, governance and the ability for auditing and reporting. 

From a change management perspective, Project Edge has been extremely complex to implement and support, especially during the uncertainties of COVID-19. However, in keeping with eXp Realty’s agent-centric culture, Marlise ensured that agents were paid throughout the five-day business freeze, while her team performed system cutover activities. 

In addition to overseeing 24 direct reports, she consolidates competing priorities for several departments, including Accounting, Brokerage Operations and Technology. Colleagues say that she has an innate ability to stay calm and reassure the team amongst the chaos. While the call to meet the technological demands for various departments is no easy feat, Marlise’s superior leadership, passion and commitment to the success of eXp Realty truly set her apart as an indispensable asset. 

Marlise brings 33 years of experience, most recently as a Senior Manager of Global Technology Solutions for Verizon. Outside of work, she and her family recently raised a service dog for a nonprofit organization called Canine Partners for Life.
