Thriving Hair Salon Business Prepared Georgia’s Stacy Pulliam for Success at eXp Realty

Running a successful hair salon, DyeVerCity Salon, provided an excellent foundation for a career in real estate. That’s what Stacy Pulliam has found since she joined eXp Realty in May 2019.

“They are both sales – no matter if you’re selling beauty services or real estate, you have to connect with people,” said Pulliam, whose salon garnered hundreds of rave reviews over 10 years in the Augusta, Georgia area. Throughout her career, Pulliam has been featured in national publications and digital platforms such as NaturallyCurly.com and BuzzFeed.

Stacy Pulliam calls eXp Realty the “Netflix and Amazon of real estate.”

“If someone didn’t know how to style their hair, I would provide education. Connecting with the person that walked through the doors of the salon was essential. I was a curl specialist – that was my niche. I was a pioneer in my area.”

As Pulliam’s 40th birthday approached, she sought wisdom on creating a legacy. She wanted to find a way to help communities across the globe and generate wealth, so she set her sights on a career in real estate. After earning her license, she chose eXp Realty because it seemed like “The Netflix and Amazon of real estate” with a cloud campus environment, live weekly training, global networking opportunities and unlimited earning potential.

“There weren’t that many eXp Realty estate agents in the Augusta area at that time,” Pulliam said. “I had gained notoriety and trust from my amazing salon clients and those in my community. My great customer service and quality work made it easy for my clients to trust me. Most of my real estate clients came as a result of referrals from DyeVerCity. My very first client was a salon client. Honestly speaking, about 90% of my business has come from the salon.”

In addition to receiving referrals, Pulliam began searching for and bidding on municipal contracts. She recently landed a contract with the Augusta Housing and Community Development Department, which has allowed her to build more community connections. She is also a Candidate for District 2 on the Augusta Commission.

At eXp Realty, she was appointed to the Agent Advisory Council, which connects real estate agents to company leadership. She is also the Communications Director for Black eXp Network.

“I have only been in the real estate business for two years and I am in positions that allow me to be a voice for agents,” Pulliam said. “The platform that Black eXp Network has given me to spread the word about the amazing job eXp is doing with promoting diversity and inclusion is nothing short of a phenomenon. I truly consider myself extremely blessed.”

Is there a significant experience you can share since you joined eXp?

“In the past year, I was chosen to be part of the Agent Advisory Council and named Communications Tribe Leader for Black eXp Network. I have already been honored to sit in the room with our Founder Glenn Sanford, eXp Realty CEO Jason Gesing, eXp Global President Michael Valdes and Fee Gentry, an eXp agent, co-founder of ONE eXp and a member of eXp’s Board of Directors.”

What is one thing about eXp that surprised you?

“Honestly, it surprised me that even upper management and ICON agents were reachable. I love that eXp has groups like the Agent Advisory Council, ONE eXp, Black eXp Network, eXp Power Girls, eXp Latino, eXp Asian Network, eXp Commercial and the list goes on. These groups set eXp apart by connecting agents to leadership as well as allowing agent voices, petitions, and praises to be heard. It’s like I knew eXp was amazing, but now I see it as a true gift to all who are willing to accept it.”

Have you had any experience or success with eXp’s global revenue share or commercial businesses yet?

“I took the opportunity to do the commercial certification in Dec. 2020. I just did my first commercial lease in September of 2021. My goal for 2022 is to dive into more development, commercial real estate, and global transactions. There is so much education available at eXp. The blueprint for success is laid out; you just have to find your niche, take classes and implement what you learn.”

What kind of collaboration have you experienced at eXp?

“Fee Gentry and Melanie Thomas, Chief Operating Officer of B.E.N., have been great with allowing me to take the lead as Communications Director for Black eXp Network, a job that I take to heart. Being able to share the accomplishments and talents of the agents in Black eXp network, as well as being involved with the amazing job ONE eXp (and all affiliates) are doing, is like global collaboration to me.

“I also love the connections in my revenue share group. I am in Jacqui Bowman’s Wolfpack group. Jacqui is such a great coach and encourages the people in our revenue share group to put our families and our well-being first. Jacqui stresses for us to get active in the brokerage and our local communities, and be authentic to who we are.”
