Breaking the Ceiling: How The Impact Group Took Their Game National

When you’re named the #1 team in the Denver Metro area two years running, “good” can become the enemy of “great.” For The Impact Group, based in Denver, Colorado, this was the exact danger they saw on the horizon.

With 31 agents and more than $305 million in closed sales in 2024 alone, The Impact Group had the numbers and the accolades to prove they were at the top of their game. Yet even with that level of success, they knew it wasn’t the time to get comfortable.

“We could feel the ceiling closing in,” said Jon Cole, founder of the Impact Group. “As one of the top teams in Colorado, ‘good’ has become the norm, and that’s dangerous, because it can make you comfortable. We didn’t want to be comfortable. We wanted to keep growing.” 

That drive to keep climbing made them more open than ever to exploring new possibilities, and to noticing when the right opportunity came along.

When Curiosity Calls

Everyone knows the pull of something new.  For The Impact Group, the first nudge toward eXp came in 2018, when numerous agents began the conversation. Still, it wasn’t until about a year and a half ago that they truly started digging in. “It wasn’t about leaving something broken, it was about being curious. The market was shifting, and we wanted to understand what was happening in other models and how the best agents were positioning themselves for the future,” said Jon. 

First Impressions are Everything

From the start, it wasn’t just about joining a new company. It was about finding the right people; they wanted the kind of leaders who run at their pace, share their drive, and push each other to grow.

Instead of being limited to local networks, The Impact Group could instantly connect with some of the most innovative, top-performing agents across the country and even internationally. 

“It gives our team access to strategies, marketing ideas, and systems that have been proven to work in competitive environments nationwide,” said Tabitha Bartel, Owner of the Impact Group. “And in return, we get to share what’s worked for us here in Colorado, which keeps us sharp and forces us to innovate.”

Their first impressions? “Simply WOW,” the team shared. “The biggest challenge isn’t finding a place to plug in,  it’s choosing which one to dive into first. And honestly, that’s the kind of ‘problem’ we love to have.”

Beyond Real Estate

With specialists in nearly every area of residential real estate, their reach spans from the top of Colorado to the bottom and almost everywhere in between.

Their roster is as diverse as it is accomplished: a Southwest airline pilot, a fire chief, a former Air Force officer, a University of Colorado dance coach, a nurse, an attorney, a doctor, and an engineer. One agent even helped develop the cell phone — and had one of the first five ever made.

Their personalities and stories have also landed them in the spotlight, including a feature on HGTV’s House Hunters in the episode “Headed for the Hills in Colorado”, as well as multiple podcast appearances.

The Road Ahead

With the ceiling officially lifted, The Impact Group is leaning into every opportunity eXp offers, from national masterminds to powerful agent connections worldwide. They’ve proven that success isn’t the finish line; it’s the starting point for whatever’s next.
