Courtney Twiss Said Keeping Her Brand Clinched the Deal in Moving Her 20-Agent Team to eXp Realty

Courtney Twiss put her hard work, name and face on the brokerage she founded in Mariposa, California in 2012. She built her team to 20 agents plus a branding coordinator and closed on $127 million in sales in 2023.

It’s no surprise, then, that Courtney explored how she could streamline her operations and still retain control. After an eight-month deep dive into eXp Realty, she found the answer. 

“Founding and growing my own company had become a significant part of my identity, and I needed time to mentally prepare for what this transition would entail,’’ Courtney said.

“I had been an independent broker for 11 years and had prior experience working with another independent brokerage. The turning point for me was when I realized that I could maintain my branding while affiliating with eXp,’’ she said.

In October 2023, the move to eXp Realty for Twiss Realty was complete. But Courtney said preparing to make the move was an interesting process.

“I had to set aside any personal attachments and ego and focus on what would be the right business decision, both for myself and for my agents. I recognized that the real estate industry was evolving, and I saw eXp as the perfect platform not only to ride the wave of change but to excel and grow within it. The opportunity was simply too compelling to pass up, and I knew it was the right move for the future of my business and the success of my agents,’’ she said. 

Goodbye Brick & Mortar, Hello eXp World 

With three real estate offices in Mariposa and Oakhurst, both outside the famous Yosemite National Park, Courtney faced the same operational pressures many independent real estate brokers struggle with. Luckily, conversations with eXp Business Development Manager Don Yoakum helped clarify the road ahead.

“Our initial discussions revolved around Don’s valuable experience in operating brick-and-mortar offices during the recession. At the time, I was facing challenges in appropriately scaling my three physical office locations spread across different cities. Over several months of conversations and gaining insights into eXp’s unique model, I began to see the potential benefits,’’ she said.
