Ronnie DeVoe of New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe Fame Joins eXp Realty and National Fair Housing Alliance

To music fans around the world, Ronnie DeVoe is known as a member of the renowned groups, New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe, whose debut album, “Poison,” was No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1990. Ronnie has continued his music and entertainment career, performing a medley of New Edition’s greatest hits alongside the New Kids on the Block at the 2021 American Music Awards, beginning a national tour in February 2022 and appearing on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” with his wife, Shamari. 

Ronnie has also been a pioneer in the real estate industry since 2002, when he joined RE/MAX in Atlanta. He joined eXp Realty in August 2021, after 15 years running his independent real estate firm, DeVoe Broker Associates and DeVoe Real Estate. 

“One of the things I wanted to do was to create an entity that was national and global,” Ronnie said at a launch event hosted by the Black eXp Network (B.E.N.) in Atlanta, Georgia. “Being in Georgia as a company and exploring other opportunities in other states, sitting down with Terri (Bridges-Gleaton) and Calvin (Gleaton), it felt like the synergy was right and our footprint now is not just Georgia. Our footprint is the United States and 19 other countries and growing to 100,000 agents. We want to grow methodically and with intention and quality.”

As a keynote speaker for eXp’s 2022 Black History Month celebration, Ronnie will share his story at 4 p.m. EST on Thursday, Feb. 10 in eXp World, eXp’s online campus where agents and staff interact. In a conversation moderated by Fee Gentry, an eXp real estate agent, member of eXp’s Board of Directors and co-founder of ONE eXp, eXp’s diversity and inclusion initiative, Ronnie and his business partner Marvetta Bozeman will also discuss some initiatives they are taking in the area of Fair Housing.

For example, Ronnie has joined the National Fair Housing Alliance on a national tour to promote the “Keys Unlock Dreams” initiative, designed to remove structural barriers that perpetuate racial inequality, expand affordable and fair housing options, prevent an unbalanced recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, empower consumers and stakeholders with critical information and resources and help close the racial wealth and homeownership gaps. 

At eXp, Ronnie said he hopes to attract like-minded agents who are committed to the Fair Housing movement. Along with Marvetta and B.E.N., he hosted a skate party during EXPCON 2021, with proceeds going to the National Fair Housing Alliance. 

“I come from the projects of Boston, Massachusetts where many of my friends and family members were lifetime renters,” Ronnie said. “Now it feels wonderful to know that I can deliver valuable information that will help them and many others make educated decisions about their financial future.”
